Two Granite Hills High School students, Jasmine Mejia and Celeste Puente Bedolla, have been named 2018 Dell Scholars. As part of the national Dell Scholars Program, both students will receive $20,000 in financial support for college, as well as a laptop, and textbook credits. The program includes a support network of students, peer mentors, and the Dell Scholars staff to help the scholars to succeed.
Both students are part of the Granite Hills AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program.
Puente is ranked first overall in the GHHS class with a 4.42 grade-point-average and will attend UCLA. Mejia is ranked fourth in the GHHS class with a 4.33 GPA and will attend either Fresno State or Cal State Bakersfield for a nursing degree.
The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation began the program in 2004 to support low-income, first-generation students on their journey to college graduation.
